Cheshire Youth Theater at Nelson Hall

INTRODUCING
VIRTUAL THEATER CAMP...
July 27th - August 7th (9am - 4pm)

WHAT WILL STUDENTS BE FOCUSING ON?

It will be Cabaret-style. a medley of different shows! There will singing, dancing and acting opportunities, art projects, as well as a "host". To honor some of the musical theater productions that were cut short this year, we chose: Beauty & The Beast, Bye Bye Birdie, Frozen, Jr, and from our past productions: Lion King, Jr. and Singin' In The Rain, Jr. (We may even include a teaser from Moana!)

WHO'S ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND THE THEATRE CAMP?
We are opening the program to students entering grades 4 - 12 in the fall. We extended the age for this year since our teens are missing out on the new teen volunteer mentor program, as well as so many high school productions. And, since it will be virtual, participants can join us from anywhere!
WHAT ARE THE DAILY DETAILS?
Virtual camp will run the same time as regular camp, 9:00am - 4:00pm. There will be a set schedule. Daily activities will include physical and vocal warm-ups, theater games, auditions, music and choreography rehearsals, crafts, filming for final sharing, and assignments. Some of the videos/instruction time will be live, some will be pre-recorded so students may study at their own pace.
*Rest assured, students will not be on their device the entire day; screen time will be approx. 4 hours per day, with periodic check-ins and lessons throughout the day.
ARE ALL PAST INSTRUCTORS RETURNING?

Your CYT team of instructors is returning! Miss Jocelyn (Pannell) as Director, Miss Christine (Yandow) as Music Director; Mr. Luis (Antonio) as Choreographer; and Miss Robin (McCahill) as Art Director. All are experienced, certified teachers, and have been working together as our CYT camp instructors for 3 years now. They LOVE working with young actors/actresses!

WHAT TECHNOLOGY WILL BE USED?
Google Meets. Most of the CT districts have been using Google Classroom and Google Meets, and we feel it will be easy for students to manage since they are familiar with it. Parents, you will have the option to add your student's email address for easier access.
WILL THERE BE IN PERSON RECORDINGS?

YES! We will be putting together a showcase of all their work in a video format, to possibly include some in-person recordings live at Nelson Hall. We would love to be able to bring some students to Nelson Hall stage (alone or in small groups) to record parts of the showcase. Of course they will have the option to pre-record their numbers. Stay tuned!
