Cheshire Youth Theatre Workshop is a one-week program designed to enhance theatre skills, build confidence, and foster creativity. Throughout the week, participants explore the art of theatre through classes in acting, singing, dancing, and technical theatre, including lighting, set design, and costumes. Students will have the opportunity to present the stills they learned in an informal showcase at the end of the week. This year’s workshop will focus on understanding and performing the Broadway Rock Musical

Please know, this program is separate from CYT, but there will be a discount if a child signs up for both ($110 off!)

Classes From Last Year Included:

Improvisation: This multi-day workshop is made up of fun physical and mental exercises, group activities, and scene-work. In each segment, students will learn the basic tenets of improvisation such as: saying “yes, and…,” supporting each other, making positive choices, committing to the reality of the scene, and most importantly empowering the self. In this workshop, there are no mistakes. These valuable lessons in improv are great for the stage and even better for life.

Résumé Workshop: This 2-part segment will show how to create a theatrical résumé and tailor it to each opportunity that arises.

Guest Spotlight: We strive to bring in community and big-name artists that specialize in a sector of theater to teach mini lessons & answer questions about their career.

Theater Keywords: Learn the vocabulary needed to easily succeed on stage and in all parts of the theater world with this multi-day workshop.

Theatrical Respect: General topic guiding theater artists in the best way to respect each other and create a more cooperative environment. We will focus on recognizing distracting behavior and the proper care of costumes, set pieces, & props. This multi-segment workshop will also cover proper protocol for interacting with each other on stage as well as behind the scenes.
