Take a little ride with the Corvettes!

With fresh energy, the Corvettes Doo Wop Revue will bring some of the greatest songs of the 1950s back to Nelson Hall Theatre on Thursday, October 3, 2019.  Like many musicians, this is just a group of “regular guys” who simply perform music that they love! According to a recent article, it all got started just a few years ago, when the band leader, Vinnie Brandi heard classic tunes from his uncle’s guitar. The rest we might say, is history!

Focusing on melody, doo-wop combines rhythm and blues with rock and roll. It became popular with many young singers on the street corners of New York City, Chicago and Baltimore because it could be performed a cappella. Along with thousands of concerts goers, The Corvettes share the sentiment that there’s a magic to those melody and harmonies which make up the unforgettable tunes in the 50s and 60s.

The Corvettes, who all go by stage names, include Duke Vincent on guitar, Joey T. on piano and keyboards, Danny Camarreri on bass, Romeo Salbucci on guitar, and Junior T. on drums. Some of the big doo-wop names the band will be covering will be names such as The Del-Vikings, The Diamonds, Bill Haley and the Comets, Dion and the Belmonts, Danny and the Juniors, Chubby Checker, Jerry Lee Lewis, and The Five Satins.

At the upcoming concert on October 3, 2019,  you might expect to hear: Come Go With Me – Little Darlin’ – Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On – At The Hop – The Twist – Earth Angel – Sea Crusie – Rock Around The Clock – In The Still Of The Night – Runaround Sue – Runaway – Palisades Park – Twistin’ The Night Away – Splish Splash – Shake Rattle & Roll And many more.
